Tarik Abdel Bary is an Egyptian professor, translator, terminologist, and author, specializing in intercultural communication and German-Arabic studies. A graduate of Ain Shams University and the universities of Cairo and Münster, he is a professor at Ain Shams University, where he teaches literature and cultural history.
Bary is the founder of the Egyptian-German Cultural Center (ÄDK) in Cairo, promoting cultural exchange and professional translation training in collaboration with institutions like the Goethe-Institut. He also leads ARABTERM, a multilingual technical dictionary project aimed at standardizing Arabic terminology in fields like automotive and water technology.
As a writer, Bary publishes short stories, poems, and children’s literature, often addressing societal and political themes. His first children’s book, Der König der Dinge (The King of Things), critiques corruption in Egyptian society. He is also an active journalist, commenting on cultural, media, and political topics in Arabic and German publications.
Bary’s work has earned him recognition, including the Best Author award from the Egyptian Council for Children’s and Youth Literature in 2006.
